National Mathematics Day Colloquium
Title: Ramanujan and the zeta function
Speaker: Prof. M. Ram Murty
Date: December 22, 2022 Time: 4:00 PM
Venue: Seminar Hall, IIT Delhi
Abstract: The Riemann zeta function is a central object in number theory, and many unsolved problems in mathematics are intertwined with it. One central problem concerns the special values of the zeta function at odd arguments. Ramanujan derived some new formulas that give these special values in terms of modular forms. In this talk, we will give a survey of some of these themes and make it accessible to a general mathematical audience.
